Anna Meares Velodrome

The Anna Meares Velodrome is an indoor track facility located at the southern end of the Sleeman Sports Complex in Chandler, Queensland.

The velodrome forms a strong and dynamic completion to the precinct.

A significant driver for the project was its facility suited to the staging of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Cycling.

It includes 1,500 legacy seats, with 2,500 additional seats available for large sporting events.

The velodrome contributes to connecting plaza spaces that augment and enhance the existing suite of sporting facilities at the complex, with a focus on the creation of a cycling precinct alongside the BMX track.

The project is notable for its large saddle-form roof of over 10,000m2 in area.

The large steel superstructure is clad on the walls and roof with a combination of opaque and translucent tensioned membrane fabric.
