Belle of the Ball

Belle of the Ball

Engaged by a young family who had just purchased their first home, interior designers Sequence Studio was commissioned to transform an existing dated apartment into a modern home for the family of three.

Connecting to the leafy outlook, soft muted colours were used throughout the apartment to create a calm space, while texture was played with through hand-made tiles and v-groove paneling to add a sense of depth.

Brass tapware from Brodware and joinery pulls from Noble Elements added elegant touches to the home.

With a large living and dining space straight off the apartment corridor, the home lacked a sense of privacy.

To overcome this, the Sequence Studio design team added a study space to provide a designated space for the family to work from home while creating an entry vestibule and a sense of arrival into the apartment.

The family was passionate about cooking.

And whilst integrating the kitchen and living space into an open plan area was not possible given the apartment’s shape, the ability to cook and to be together as a family was a key requirement.

To allow for this, a breakfast nook was added to the kitchen, providing a space for the couple’s young daughter to sit and draw or eat while the couple prepare meals.

The existing main bedroom was a long, impractical space.

A bedhead wall was added, as was a walk-in robe behind this diving wall.

Low height soft green v-groove cladding lines the wall, with two Kelly Wearstler sconces creating ambient lighting within the room.
