The rebrand for COX Architecture was led by Melbourne-based brand consultancy VAN O and was a finalist at the 2019 AGDA Awards across four categories.
The process included the development and delivery of a new logo, digital and print marketing collateral, and a new website.
The four categories the rebrand was a finalist in are:
- COX Architecture Rebrand – finalist in the Branding – Large Business category
- COX Capability Statement – finalist in the Books – Entire Book category
- COX Logo – finalist in the Corporate Identity – Logos & Trademarks category
- COX Print Reveal – finalist in the Brand Expression category
This project is a catalyst for positive change at COX, allowing the practice to be better equipped in representing its ever-expanding spectrum of sectors, typologies, and projects.
COX employees were involved in design processes, providing ideas and suggestions for what the rebrand required.
As a result, the design embraced the history and traditions of COX, simultaneously creating a smart and stylish modern brand with a strong sense of identity.
Key to the redevelopment is COX’s leading statement, ‘by the many, for the many.’
This statement guides both the new brand and ultimately the practices commitment to designing superior architecture, interior design and urban design. It is well represented in new collateral and, particularly, the new website.
Executive Chair of COX, Patrick Ness, said:
‘Branding needs to both reflect and lead change for an organisation. I believe it is in the synthesis and documentation of this organisational journey that the true value of our new branding lies.’
Owner of VAN O, Luke Van O, said:
“What you ‘see’ emerging from this two-and-a-half-year process has the hands of nearly 500 practitioners on it, yet manages to avoid being the result of design-by-committee. It’s simply a product of context; a reflection on the unique characteristics of the practice and its place within the world. It’s a tribute to the discipline itself and the legacy of COX’s founders, placed in context of a body of work that’s as varied, ambitious and constantly-evolving as the people who produce it.”
COX’s new brand has been implemented into all internal and external collateral as the old brand is phased out.
