Hawthorn House: Stage 1

As the first stage of a much larger ongoing renovation, Rosstang Architects were tasked with designing a bright and spacious bathroom for two tall teenage boys.

The existing bathroom was dark and dated with an irregular floor plan and relatively low ceiling height of 2.4m.

So Rosstang Architects introduced a custom skylight as the main feature of this bathroom.

It provided natural light and enhanced the height and proportions of the space too.

The combination of different textures, materials, and patterns created a sanctuary that’s both tactile and tranquil; a space the boys say is a joy to use.

High praise indeed from a typically tough user-group.
