Manly Apartment

Annabelle Chapman Architect was commissioned to upgrade the interiors of an existing whole floor apartment within a small 90’s apartment block close to Manly Harbour in Sydney.

The owners loved the location, but not the dark, unfriendly spaces.

So the brief was to maximise the sunlight and brighten up the darker spaces and bring in a coastal style.

The apartment was gutted and new limestone floors laid throughout, except for the bedrooms.

Striking marble for the bathrooms and kitchens continued the theme.

Extensive joinery, predominantly limed oak, provided clever storage which was an important element of the brief.

The lighting was designed to elevate the ceilings and focus the outlook to the view beyond.

Annabelle Chapman Architect was established in 2000 and is a small practice located in Eastern Sydney specialising in residential design.

The principal, Annabelle Chapman, holds degrees in both Architecture and Interior Design, and has been a Chartered Architect since 1986.

Annabelle has over 30 years experience, having worked on heritage buildings, commercial interiors, and both small- and large-scale residential work.

Her projects have included new dwellings, apartment fit-outs, alterations and additions, work on heritage residences, and retail design.
