Monash Makerspace

Monash Makerspace

Designed by Brand Architects and completed in 2019, Monash Makerspace is a state-of-the-art fabrication facility and prototyping centre at Monash University’s Clayton campus.

Located in the Smart Manufacturing Hub within the wider Monash Technology Precinct, the facility comprises a series of formal and informal build and workspace zones for industry and entrepreneurial engagement in a purpose-built collaborative learning environment.

The premium workspaces include a machining area, composites area, sanding bay, fabrication bay, electrical area, a flexible ‘hot desk’ light technical work area, along with a communal chill-out zone equipped with kitchen amenities.

The space enables creative, active, and participatory learning for interdisciplinary project teams in a real-world context and supports the activities of start-ups at the collocated Monash Generator.

The Monash Makerspace is home to student-run teams Monash Motorsport, Monash High Powered Rocketry, Monash Unmanned Aerial Systems, and Precious Plastic Monash.
