NCR

As a global company NCR has been shaping technology, how people bank, shop, eat, and travel since 1884.

The design concept was driven by creating a flexible, modern and forward-thinking workspace infused with the richness in aesthetic detail found in NCR’S earliest produced cash registers and the functionality of their core offering.

Structured in two phases, phase one was completed in May 2018 and brought focus to the main workspace on Level 9.

As the client facing arrival point, the reception area was designed with a sleek and impactful first impression.

The space composes a highly detailed reception desk subtly drawing on design of a by gone era, custom wall panelling creating interest at every turn, technology driven meeting spaces with a view that stretches to the outer mountains of Sydney and a client focused demonstration room showcasing all of NCR’s latest technological offerings.

Working closely with the NCR team locally and internationally, the main workspace was developed with focus on flexibility, choice and collaboration.

Utilising the pockets of space the unique buildings shape provides a number of soft discussion spaces, focused work spaces, drop in hot desking, sit to stand workstations across the whole floor and a combination of traditional and teleconference huddle meeting rooms.

In addition to the main workspace are a number of tech lab facilities accommodating varying sizes and weights of NCR machinery.

With a number of company functions converging in this new space, the breakout was designed as a place of relaxing, socializing and connecting.

With custom designed joinery elements, cosy window seats, plug in high tables and a central ping pong table, the space acts as an inviting escape where staff from both Levels 8 and 9 can come together and unwind.

Completed in January 2019, the space is designed to function specifically to the requirements of the two specialist teams, whilst continuing the conceptual look and feel and utilizing the social zones of level 9.

This includes a training facility focused on educating clients with learning space and equipment demonstration zone and a customer service focused workspace that includes sit to stand workstations and a number of supporting quiet, collaboration and meeting spaces.

Designed with ultimate function in mind, the new workspace has been extremely well received among NCR staff with it being quoted as having “changed the office culture, in the most dramatic and positive way”.
