Newman Catholic College

Newman Catholic College

Designed by TPG Architects, Newman Catholic College serves the continuing growth of Cairns’ Northern beaches.

Newman Catholic Secondary College is hosted on James Cook University’s Smithfield Campus.

This school, a vertical college built over four levels, is the first Catholic secondary school on a University campus in Australia.

Located on the second level, a multipurpose hall with a music and drama studio opens onto a 200-seat tiered seating stair that rises through the central commons.

And there’s a rooftop science precinct.

A pedestrian concourse on the first level opens into a large vertical commons overlooking the nearby rainforest and Atika Creek.

The school is renowned for its strong program in music and drama.
