Über Shed 2 is the second rural building Jost Architects have designed on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, Australia.
Their client is an enthusiastic collector.
Vintage cars, army jeeps, and model planes…
…GI Joes, art, old signs, signed guitars, and antique tram ticket dispensers.
He loves it all. And had plenty of it.
But the collection lived in an off-the-shelf blue corrugated-steel shed.
It was only 4 years old.
Not pretty.
Spoiled the setting too.
Understandably, Jost Architects‘ client didn’t love the shed.
And his beloved stainless-steel Airstrem bus didn’t fit inside.
So he decided to demolish it.
But instead of that fate, Jost Architects proposed a scheme that retained the existing structure, extended the footprint, and re-clad the enlarged building.
Bottom line?
The client loves his Über Shed 2.
It’s functional, handsome, and strong.
And really does the site justice.
