Cornwell Office 1.0

Through moments of colour and curiosity, Kestie Lane Studio designed a refreshing and energising creative office space for Melbourne-based creative agency, Cornwell.

Their brief was to design an office space that embodied the brand’s creative values and transform the industrial style space into an interior that provided a flexible and inspiring work environment.

When designing an office space, finding a balance between social and private spaces is a challenge.

Given the nature of Cornwell’s business, producing a space that encouraged social interaction and collaboration was paramount.

The space had multiple changing floor levels.

By treating the threshold of where the floor level changed as a feature, the Kestie Lane Studio team was able to use this to advantage from both a form and function aspect.

This threshold area became a platform for custom design elements such as steel frame doors, stone plinths, and custom joinery; resulting in this being the focal point of the space.

The two levels allowed Kestie Lane Studio to create two separate areas that are easily interchangeable between an open space and private area, allowing for flexibility throughout the workday.

Custom steel frame doors and curtains facilitated this.

Featuring custom designed elements throughout, the design for Cornwell’s office space was a true reflection of the brand’s originality.

The success of an office space can be measured by how it facilitates a positive working environment.

Cornwell has been transformed into a creative space that inspires the imaginative people who spend their time there.

Being a digital orientated agency, strong graphics set the design language in the space.

Throughout the interior and its custom joinery, there are pops of electric blue and brass details.

The custom matt black steel frame doors with stone inlays create a bold backdrop for the loft-style space.

Beyond the graphic doors, drapery hangs adding softness.

Featuring varying floor heights connected by stone plinths, the interior has a layered effect.

Through this approach, a balance of open plan and private spaces is achieved.

Being a creative workplace, encouraging interaction between staff and spaces was a core consideration.

The felt walls aid in providing a sense of flexibility in the space, suggesting that inspiration could be explored and showcased anywhere.

Balancing these more casual aspects are gallery like moments, presenting a range of artefacts on display showing the brand’s appreciation for art and all things beautiful.

Eclectic and easily transportable furnishings are scattered throughout, adding to the dynamic and flexible quality of this creative working environment.
