INK interior architects designed the interiors for a retailer of premium vintage watches.
The store showcases renowned brands such as Rolex, Cartier, and Audemars Piguet with an aesthetic that dances between masculine and feminine whilst embracing a sophisticated, less is more approach.
The rich colour palette, refined joinery, and quality fixtures aim to appeal to the astute watch collector.
The client’s brief stipulated “a modern classic” exuding warmth, elegance, and calm.
The 39m2 store is located within the iconic, heritage-listed Queen Victoria Building; the design treads carefully, respecting the existing features and limitations of the tenancy.
Curved edges on partitions and joinery are a nod to the heritage windows, offering a complimentary aesthetic, but also softening the space.
The curves are akin to the contour of a classic watch.
Eye-level displays are clean and uncomplicated, allowing for dynamic merchandising.
Vintage Rolex boxes, horology books, and object d’árt introduce personality and a relaxed approach to display.
The finishes are refined, yet unpretentious.
Stucco, timber, and brass are a familiar combination enhanced by lighting placement, shadow, and textured floral installations.
The leather-wrapped sales counter is tactile and unexpected, a subtle reference to the classic leather wristband.
The design approach is elegant, highly functional, and durable to ensure the store can physically and aesthetically last beyond the minimum five-year lease period.
