Meffigy is a participatory sculpture created for S P A C E.
S P A C E is building a collective of unlike-minds with a passion for making a more ambitious Australia (and world).
They gather diverse sets of people to challenge points-of-view and unlock new insights on old perspectives.
Their aim is to move Australia forward at an exponential rate of change, powered by the most inspiring minds in the country.
The Meffigy sculpture was designed for S P A C E by UnitedMake.
Its purpose was to bring unlikely people together to create unexpected conversations.
The Meffigy interactive installation was no weekend project.
From brief to completion, the project’s duration was just over two months.
It stood 3m tall and included over 1,000 personalised lanyard inserts.
And there were weeks of laser-cutting FSC plywood and days of spray painting needed.
This ‘designed to be burnt’ project was inspired by light beacons, Olympic torches, and tribal objects.
The only material used was 3 mm and 6 mm poplar plywood.
The project was made possible by the collaboration of Cube Zero, S P A C E and Terry Mann.
