Located in the cultural heart of North Melbourne, providing residents with immediate access to all that Melbourne has to offer, MILQ offers a bespoke collection of 39 apartments.
The design of the apartments by Plus Architecture was heavily influenced by the surrounding context of the site, with scale and proportion a primary design consideration.
The rectangular shapes of the building were sliced, providing a gradual set back to Arden Street.
The remaining facades were subtle, drawing focus to the North façade.
The immediate context to the site contains a variety of building typologies, styles and materials.
The semi-industrial precinct heavily features simple and honest materials.
The design elements of MILQ Apartments were strongly influenced by the surroundings with a modernist material palette chosen which is further supplemented with warmer materials.
Part of Plus Architectures’ client brief was the specification of a unique entry sequence. They combined the idea of activating the side lane, separating the vehicular entry from the pedestrian, and the client’s brief to create a crystalline entry.
