Still Space Architecture’s client requested a more ‘pared back’ existence, free from clutter and unnecessary things.
This project saw the transformation of an existing heritage terrace into a light-filled and calming retreat.
Still Space Architecture was engaged to create a minimal, uncluttered house, with only the essentials for living – fresh air, sun and beautiful spaces.
Cross flow ventilation was introduced into the previous stuffy and confined house.
And large screened openings allow for hot air to be flushed out of the house at night.
A central walled garden courtyard brings in light and air, and a leafy outlook for the small spaces.
The house is in a Heritage Area so Still Space Architecture had to contend with a very restrictive local council, and vocal local heritage groups.
The site is very tight so all spaces are designed to be flexible and open to future changes.
The kitchen space works as both a fully working kitchen and laundry, dining space and home office, whilst watching the plants sway in the courtyard.
Still Space Architecture’s client lives a very pared back lifestyle and appreciates minimal spaces.
The new house has allowed our client to enjoy the arc of light through the house, and lives in a house perfectly suited to his needs.
The client lived overseas during the construction period, trusting the Still Space Architecture team to deliver the project, and was very happy to finally come home.
